South East Melbourne Phoenix import Tai Wesley has given a massive tick of approval to the striking new uniforms the club will wear in its inaugural NBL season.
Produced by First Ever, the ash grey and green design features a special edition club badge to mark the Phoenix’s first year on the Australian basketball scene.
“The coolest part for me about this jersey is having the ‘inaugural season’ patch,” Wesley said.
“It’s the first time ever that this jersey will be worn and that these colours will be on the NBL stage.
“To represent this singlet means a lot. It’s a new franchise, it’s an expansion team, and there’s only ever one first. I’m fortunate enough to be part of the first season.”
Wesley said the uniforms had been received well by Phoenix players.
“I think they came out really well, so we’re excited about it,” Wesley said.
“The thing that I like is that it’s not black. It’s ash grey, which is really cool, and I think they integrated green really well.”
Wesley urged Phoenix fans to purchase their own jerseys and merchandise to fill the stands with club colours during the inaugural season.
“I would absolutely encourage all the fans to get out and get your singlets,” Wesley said.
“These things look good, so wear them proudly. They’re nice and light, they feel good, and they’re ready to get a lot of dunks this year.”
