- A less positive day today for the Aussies with Hijikata being the only Aussie to win against Goffin and reaching the second round after being a lucky loser into the main draw. On the flip side, Vukic, Schoolkate, Duckworth and Walton all lost their first round matches.
- In front of a packed centre court crowd in the evening session, Tristian Schoolkate had his chances with five set points in the first set against Etcheverry but couldn’t take it out with the Argentinian player running away with the victory from there.
- Bencic who has come back from maternity leave won her first round match after her opponent retired injured in the second set.
- A blockbuster first round women’s match rounded out the day at the Adelaide International. After a titanic battle in the first set which was won by Ons Jabour, Danielle Collins couldn’t make a comeback, and Jabour went on to win in straight sets.
An exciting day three awaits with amazing matchers during the day session and a box office line session at night with Kokkinakis clashing against Etcheverry and sixteen year old Emerson Jones on the big stage against world number nine, Kasitina.
