AMI WILLIAMSON
Adelaide Fringe Festival – ‘A Night with Eric ‘N Ami’
February 24,25,26
A talented singer songwriter who has long been part of the Australian folk music scene, Ami Williamson describes her upcoming three shows with Eric Bogle at the Adelaide Fringe Festival as being “on her bucket list”.
‘A Night with Eric ‘N Ami’ is part of The Trinity Sessions’ and is playing on February 24, 25 and 26 at the Church of the Trinity.
The show sees Ami and Eric perform separately and together, as Eric “passes the folk baton” to Ami. Also a multi-instrumentalist, Ami typically plays a ‘One Woman Show’, so the departure to perform with Eric Bogle is a unique opportunity not to be missed.
Ami said, “Since childhood, Eric Bogle’s music has been as much apart of my consciousness as dad’s. Eric is a master songwriter, his songs stand alone like landmarks.”
In addition to being a performer, Eric has written classic Australian songs that have been recorded by the likes of Joan Baez, Mary Black, Slim Dusty, John Williamson and Billy Bragg.
Ami is a regular at Folk Festivals across Australia and internationally including The Port Fairy Folk Festival, The Brunswick Music Festival, The Woodford Folk Festival and The National Folk Festival. While Ami’s roots are firmly in the tradition of singer/songwriter, her richly diverse upbringing had Ami taking the stage not only in opera and classical, but also touring with her father, legendary country music artist John Williamson.
She has a unique musical heritage, as both Ami’s grandparents were classical singers and sang duets (Soprano and Tenor) for ABC Radio in the 1930-60s.
Tickets for the show are on sale now from the Adelaide Fringe Festival website.
Ami’s albums ‘I’ll Ride With You’, ‘Close to Home’ and ‘Ami Williamson Live’ are available to purchase via Ami’s website and online store: www.amiwilliamson.com, and at iTunes and Amazon.
