Now you’re probably already skeptical reading the word ‘hypnosis’ – but I’m here to tell you that this ain’t no hoax-nosis.
You’ll be equally shocked as you are in stitches from laughter, as Lomman cleverly combines comedy and hypnosis into one uncontrollable laughter/gasp fest.
After a brief introduction, Lomman tests the entire audience with a simple mind game in order to suss out twelve potential volunteers to hypnotise live in front of the audience. However, he doesn’t technically choose the volunteers – it’s a free for all, as he invites crowd members to run up to the stage if they think they’re a worthy candidate for his mind manipulation. Make sure you have you’re running shoes on to get in quick…or perhaps your dancing shoes for what is to come!
From what we’ve seen, you might have to go into this one with a malleable mind, and a willingness to play this reality vs. imagination game if you decide to volunteer, as the hypnosis seems to work on some more than others. It appears that Lomman’s wish is the participant’s command, taking on some ridiculously hilarious requests. One minute they will be taking on dance routines, the next they’ll be appalled by the somewhat saucy, 18+ sight, Lomman instructs them to envision – one hypnotised volunteer even commenting “you have a cute little bum” after Lomman asks “is there anything you’d like to share”. If you’re easily embarrassed, perhaps spectating might be the better option for you.
Each show is different as hypnosis works differently on everyone – however, in this particular performance, the hypnosis was so powerful that one volunteer fell off their chair in the deep slumber cast by Lomman…another volunteer even leant to dab under the hypnosis…and all in the name of love! What happens at the Fringe doesn’t stay at the Fringe, as the proceedings are complimented perfectly with a recording of the entire thing, available for purchase after the show. A great blackmail tool, one may say.
Here’s what some audience members had to say:
“Incredibly entertaining! I was on the edge of my seat in disbelief the whole time.”
“You have to see it to believe it!”
“I would literally buy tickets again so I can be one of the volunteers.”
This is a definite combination of disbelief, extreme amusement and an unforgettable show, but only one thing is certain – expect the unexpected.
