Yummy, are a Melbourne cabaret group who for multiple years have impressed us with their enthusiasm for the art of music and entertainment. One of my favourite shows at the Fringe is back for another year of drag, circus music and a little bit of nudity.
Each year Yummy impresses me with their talented acts that keep me dancing on my seat. The host Valerie Hex, who is also the producer of the show, engages us with her sense of humour and sassy style. Prepare yourself to see Hannie Helsdonw who will wow you with the incredible movement of her hips in her hula-hoop act. One of my favourites Zelia Rose, an ex burlesque dancer will blow you away with how fast she can move around the stage.
Yummy also holds a strong message to society, regarding gender equality and climate change. I love that not only does it entertain but helps to address important topics in society. The only thing that I found this year was that I could tell that they were lip singing. I did feel at times that maybe because they had performed this show multiple times before that they were unaware of this. In saying that, it may have been because I had seen them perform before, which made me pick out the little inconsistencies. I highly recommend buying a ticket and being taken into the wild world of Yummy. I always leave the show feeling energetic and ready to party, Yummy style.
