Australia’s famous; Charles Firth and James Scholoeffel, familiar faces from ‘The Chaser’ and ‘The Shovel’, have taken on Adelaide Fringe with their show ‘The Anti Experts Guide to Everything’. What is way more important than expert’s opinions? Deeply held opinions from anti experts, and that is exactly what you will get from this clever comical act.
The show is set in a lecture way with the two men giving their opinions and ‘facts’ through a PowerPoint presentation, whilst interacting with each other and the audience. You will get the anti expert judgements on important subjects such as vaccinations, politics, religion and climate change. One topic includes a ‘Gloop or Poop?’ segment, based around Gwyneth Patrol’s real life website which has some incredibly ‘helpful’ products on it. What about James research he did on the hard fact that 99% of people who eat sultanas will die in a car crash? The anti expert facts given in this show confirms that you should not believe everything that you read on the internet, and really showcases how gullible some people are.
The duo did a great job of representing large views of what some of the general population think. They were extremely clever with everything that they said, and they kept us all entertained with their anti facts. It was not the funniest show that I have seen at fringe, but it was clever enough to keep me engaged. If you’re looking for a show that is smart and a little bit different then head along to ‘The Anti Experts Guide to Everything’.
