Vance Joy at Thebarton Theatre Review

By Tony Polese · On September 18, 2018

Vance Joy
Monday 17th July, 2018
Thebarton Theatre
The first of 2 sold out shows revealed it was Vance Joy’s silhouette posing behind a swiftly drawn curtain just prior to show proceedings. Moving to stage front for ‘Mess Of Mine’ was accompanied by a plethora of screams and the crowd singing one of his more popular songs word for word.
The mellow lighting was appropriated by new song ‘Like Gold’ and ‘Take Your Time’ which somehow lead into a interesting story about Joy’s ‘achievable dream’ about being able to finger whistle and later on a comical anecdote about about a glow in the dark tooth!
All the favourites songs (‘Fire In The Flood’, ‘I’m With You’, ‘One Of These Days’, ‘Going Home’, ‘Riptide’, ‘Lay It On Me’ and ‘Saturday Sun’) amongst songs off the latest album were played to a very appreciative audience.
