Heading to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in early 2025, fans will experience The Flaming Lips in live form like they never have before. The alt icons will be performing their 2002 seminal record Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots played in full, + cult classics from their stellar discography. | Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2022, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots remains one of the most influential alt rock albums of all time. The GRAMMY® award-winners reached critical acclaim with the release, earning them their first RIAA certified Gold Record after the eagerly awaited follow-up to 1999’s masterwork, The Soft Bulletin, proving that singer/guitarist Wayne Coyne and multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd had yet another masterpiece in them. Featuring revered tracks “Yoshimi Battle the Pink Robots, Pt. 1” and “Fight Test”, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is a profound quasi-concept album drenched in a wondrous swirl of ambient electronics, digital beats, and psychedelic splendour. The record yielded timeless stargazing track “Do You Realize??”, which was named the official rock song of the band’s native state of Oklahoma in 2009 and landed them their first-ever Grammy Award® win for the cosmic album-closing instrumental “Approaching Pavonis Mons by Balloon (Utopia Planitia)”. |
