WOMADelaide 2016
Botanic Park, Adelaide
March 11th – March 14th, 2016
The WOMADelaide Festival 2016 features the World Premiere of Garry Stewart’s The Beginning of Nature (Part 1).
The Beginning of Nature is a dance and music performance based upon the idea of rhythms in nature. The nine outstanding dancers of ADT mimic these rhythms manifested in day and night, the seasons, tidal patterns, migration, hibernation, sleep and waking and weather patterns.
The score incorporates the Kaurna language, sung by special guest vocalists Shauntai Batzke and Vonda Last. Kaurna is the language of the first peoples of the Adelaide plains and is the cultural property of the Kaurna people.
The Beginning of Nature will be accompanied by an exciting virtual reality experience created in collaboration with Sandpit, using a free Google Cardboard viewer available from our booth in the Global Village.
This ingenious app, coupled with Google cardboard technology, allows you to experience the dancers performing choreography from The Beginning of Nature filmed in stunning natural locations around Adelaide viewed in 360 degrees.
When you arrive at our booth you will be able to download the app at the event by logging onto ‘Uniti Free WiFi’. Powered by Uniti Wireless, Uniti are delivering Internet to WOMADelaide this year including some free public WiFi around the event. Log onto ‘Uniti Free WiFi’ to connect across Botanic Park.
