You may have remembered these guys from the 90s, when the band first started up in 1997. Taxiride have a unique style of pop rock but also perform heavier works, especially in their later albums. The band got their name from travelling around Melbourne in a yellow Ford Falcon ex-taxi, which the city is known for.
Their first song for the set was ‘Can You Feel’, which was sung harmoniously between lead singer Jason Singh, and guitarists Dan Hall and Tim Wild. It was a great start to the night. Singh mentions it has been sometime since they were last in Adelaide, noticing the new airport.
They performed tracks ‘Rachel’, ‘Everywhere You Go’, ‘Nothing in This World’, and favourite ‘Ice Cream’. They also encouraged song requests from the audience, in which they played ‘Get Set.’ They did a crowd sing-a-long version as well.
Singh talked about their beginnings playing in pubs around Melbourne before they got together as a group. They played some of their earlier songs such as ‘Back Again’ and ‘Counting down the Days.’
There were a few more sing-a-longs and then they finished up with another favourite ‘Creepin’ up slowly.’
Despite their uncertain future as a band, they pulled together to put on a good show.
