Shangri-La VIP Launch
Adelaide’s newest Karaoke Bar with a modern contemporary twist
Adelaide is currently a buzz with a swag of new bars opening all over the place! So I was keen to see what Shangri-La was all about, and what it had to offer in a rapidly congesting market. My brief before being; it was the launch of a new Karaoke bar in Hindley Street, nothing ground breaking so far…..but let me tell you, Shangri-La is so much more than that.
On entering I was bedazzled by the stunning art work on the walls and in particular the huge mural painted by local artist Elaine Cheng; which is truly spectacular. I loved the feel and vibe of the place; pretty lanterns adorned the ceiling majestically, adding a sense of whimsy every bit deserving of its name. Vibrant oriental colours where everywhere, all these things added to setting the mood for this new Karaoke bar, with a contemporary modern twist!
Guests included the usual who’s who of Adelaide, along with the current hip in crowd. Everyone now indulged in champagne, fine wine and cocktails. The staff more than pleasant and really knew their stuff, happily telling us about the cocktail menu and their specials planned for each week. Be sure to try one of their asparagus or tea based cocktails, such as the North-Western Yunnan, which was already going down a treat, and a firm favourite on the night.
Catering was always going to be good, Shangri-La is run by the same owners as the highly regarded Gondola Gondola. I particularly loved the crisp n crunchy shrimp popcorn, the tasty pork sticks and the Thai Beef salad served in really cute little card board boxes.
After a bit of mingling, and catching up with familiar faces, the owner Tuoi Train gave a quick speech; thanking family and friends; as well as Mareee Stoubos, head huncho from (Girl About Town) on their part in the successful launch.
To end proceedings nicely, guests were thrilled to be treated to a tour of the private Karaoke rooms; these are seriously cool and on point, decked out to the hilt! I have to add, these were full all night, a very good sign they will be popular with punters in the coming months!
Well Shangri-La, you are delightful. I will most definitely be back soon and will be recommending you to my friends for a great night out.
