Review: Pirra

By Tony Polese · On April 5, 2017

Words by Karen Farrugia

Amongst an intimate group of family and friends at the Grace Emily, indie pop rock band Pirra performed songs from their latest album Animal Kingdom.

They opened with ‘Your Parachute’, in which Jesse Beck demonstrated her delicate yet strong lead vocals. The next ‘Wake Me’ had more of a rock beat and got the band going. They were livelier than the audience. ‘All for Ya’ is for the party people, Beck explains, and was a catchy dance tune.

Beck and guitarist James McKendry sung a duet to new song ‘Clouds’, which was inspired by Vikings. There was a song request for an older track ‘Ego’, which got a response from the crowd, including the drum solos from Jeffrey Argent.

At the final song Beck thanked everyone for supporting their music. The Sydney-based band have a unique sound that is not to miss.
