I was lucky enough to attend the premiere of Priscilla at the Festival Theatre.
Upon arriving I was quite impressed with the electric atmosphere. Drag queens were excitingly walking around looking fabulous. I was fortunate to have a photo with one of the stars.
We were given great seats, centre and not too far back, which made us very pleased and excited knowing we were in for a great night.
I have watched the movie numerous times and loved it every time. It centres around 3 friends who travel through the outback in a bus, performing shows dressed as drag queens. It shows the daily struggle with being accepted in small towns. Their resilience, determination and courage shows that having a passion, loving it , will triumph every time.
The show was perfection, from the characters, dancing, singing, acting and the props there was nothing I could fault. There were some additions that weren’t in the movie which gave everyone a laugh.
The actors were extremely professional and the dancers were incredible. The show had everything and even more. It had the audience singing, laughing and clapping.
The costumes were exquisite, colourful and well designed. The staging was above par and I have to say many people including myself said it was the best performance they had seen for a while.
I did not want it to end but when it did, the performers received a standing ovation, which was greatly deserved.
I give Priscilla 10/10, it was perfection to a tee. Please go and see it as you will leave feeling energised and wanting to tell your friends all about it.
