– Forbes

“Miami Horror continue to delve into the electronic/funk world with impeccable results”
– Acid Stag

“Summer soundtrack sorted.”
– Fashion Journal

“It’s a blistering return, channelling disco energy while supplying some yacht pop thrills – lush, louche,
and ultra-contagious, it’s a real thrill.”

– CLASH

In celebration of their new single, ‘Luv Is Not Enough’, Miami Horror today announce their first Australian tour dates in over two years. The Melbourne/LA based six-piecewill visit Melbourne, San Remo, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth throughout December.

Arriving alongside news of Miami Horror’s forthcoming third album for 2020, ‘Luv Is Not Enough’ (released last Friday) has received strong support from home and abroad from the likes of Acid Stag,Fashion Journal, Forbes, CLASH, EARMILK and adds to Spotify’s New Music Friday and Indie Arrivals and Apple’s New Music Daily in Australia.

Featuring the alluring vocals of Clear Motiffee, ‘Luv Is Not Enough’ conjures a romantic tone of empowerment and self confidence. In true Miami Horror style, the bass-line heavy groove keeps listeners moving through the track, feeling the message as the song builds. Producer Benjamin Plant cites soulful funk artists like The Internet, Kaytranada, and Anderson .Paak as recent inspiration, even mentioning that Calvin Harris’ 2017 single “Slide” caused a big shift in perspective.

Plant says about writing ‘Luv Is Not Enough’, “We hadn’t really been into much new music. Everything was feeling dull and minimal. Then when I heard “Slide,” it was a seemingly revelatory moment. It was refreshing to hear a song that was based around the simplicity of a good bass line and chords. It made me realize that maybe we’d been overthinking things, as those had always been two of our favorite and highest prioritized elements when we started out.”

‘Luv Is Not Enough’ follows previous single ‘Restless’, which marked the band’s shift toward their collaborative and production-based roots, marrying the funk elements of their past with a softer R&B-leaning vocal. It was a direction that Plant champions as the new incarnation of the project. ‘Restless’ combined dreamy, lo-fi funk guitar, relaxed, 70s-esque drums, and a sultry, impassioned vocal, attracting strong support from tastemakers The Guardian AU and Purple Sneakers, spins on triple j’s Mornings with Linda Marigliano and Home & Hosed, as well as an add to rage for the track’s accompanying visuals.

What began as a solo project by Plant, Miami Horror quickly grew into a four-piece live band. The new six-piece iteration see the group as a living, breathing organism, ever-changing in their diverse musical influences.  Filling dance-floors and festival stagesboth at home and across the globe with their distinctive brand of electronica, Miami Horror have proved crowd favourites at festivals like Coachella, Govenor’s Ball, Electric Forest, Splendour in the Grass, Beyond the Valley,Just Like Heaven and most recently, Ecuador’s Funka Fest and Mexico’s Corona Capital Festival. ‘Luv Is Not Enough’ arrives as Miami Horror gear up for a mammoth 17-date North American tour, with new live line up additionsReva Devito (self), Nic Mulhall (Queen Magic), and TC Milan in tow, whilst vocalist and guitarist Josh Moriarty takes a much needed break from touring.

With Benjamin Plant living between LA and hometown of Melbourne, the project has grown from this dichotomy, continuing to evolve and transform. With latest offering ‘Luv Is Not Enough’, listeners are allowed yet another a glimpse into the new era of Miami Horror, one oozing with unexpected collaborations and fresh sounds, soon to be shared with Australian audiences.

‘Luv Is Not Enough’ is OUT NOW. Tickets to Miami Horror’s Australian Tour are ON SALE NOW.
