“Let’s Make Music Great Again!”
Johnny Cash the Concert; Celebrates the songs from the epic movie but throws in some additional hits from Bob Dylan, some Cash tunes from the Highwaymen and some of his later recordings into the 1990’s. The timeless music from that quint essential era of Americana is played with vigour and passion and the musicians lead by Daniel Thompson have the audience feeling as they are back in the mid-west at 1950’s Johnny Cash show, waiting for him to burst on stage and preach his magic to the audience.
The somewhat mature audience in attendance was treated to 2hrs of solid music Cash classics…., Johnny Cash is timeless his lyrics tell stories and transport people too journeys of love, spirituality and self-appraisal. For minutes I’d close my eyes and felt as if I too was in Folsom Prison doing time and the man in black was the only escape from the guards and hard time.
Although the man left the world 15years his music will never die…like Elvis, Dylan and Cohen his music finds new fan. The audience is treated to hit after hit…there’s no pyro, big screens or back up dances, what you get is music at its barest, a band that is tight knit and a lead singer that loves “the man in black”, Daniel’s a big fan a speaks to the audience in between songs with some surprising Cash facts.
For younger people like me this is the next best thing to being at a Cash show, it’s a tribute…we won’t see the legends of Cash anymore but we can all pay tribute and enjoy the legendary tunes left behind by this iconic artist!
So do yourself a favour next time these guys are headed your way go out and see them: Don’t miss this celebration of all things Cash in 2017 with Johnny Cash The Concert – Walk The Line, its great entertainment and a great way to spend a night dancing in your chair and reliving timeless tunes from the hit movie Walk the Line!
