In the Chair: It’s Not About You – It’s about Mie from Haiku Hands

By Tony Polese · On February 18, 2022

In the Chair is a regular feature on Eventalaide, highlighting artists from across Australia and occasionally overseas. Everyone gets the same questions. It is just meant to be a bit of fun so please treat it as such.

Questions by Geoff Jenke

Haiku Hands music is experimental, kind of rebellious and can be unconventional. The debut self titled album, Haiku Hands, was primarily recorded in Melbourne with Joel Ma (Joelistics) and features emblematic collaborations with SOFI TUKKER, Mad Zach, Machine Drum, Mirac, Elgusto of Hermitude and Lewis CanCut.  They released the self-titled album in 2020, which probes themes including technology, relationships, the absurd and social commentary.  The record explores an attitude of empowerment, humour and positivity, whilst also delving into darker themes and expressions. They aim to be original in their creative choices, and were influenced by multiple genres and artists but aiming to create something that sound new and different.
