Flavour Takes Centre Stage: Adelaide Festival Centre Celebrates Tasting Australia

By Tony Polese · On April 16, 2024

Flavour is set to take centre stage when for the very first time, Adelaide Festival Centre partners with South  Australia’s premier food and wine festival, RAA Travel’s Tasting Australia, to present the ultimate  celebration of South Australian performance, food and wine with Flavour Centre Stage.

With knives and forks at the ready, guests are invited to the ultimate dinner party where they will experience a five-course culinary journey through the iconic Adelaide Festival Centre with live  performances and delectable South Australian food and wine pairings where each course represents a  distinct festival produced by Adelaide Festival Centre.

Hosted by multi award winning cabaret performer, singer, entertainer and cook Michelle Pearson, Flavour  Centre Stage will feature an impressive lineup of South Australian performers who will spice up each course  with a live performance to match. Throughout the evening, diners will also hear from chief winemaker Tim  Dolan from 5-star James Halliday rated winery Kaesler Wines who will talk through his hand selected wines  all paired with food by Adelaide Festival Centre’s head chef Ryan Willard.

Adelaide Festival Centre Manager of Hospitality Jeff Owens: “Adelaide Festival Centre is thrilled to offer a  unique experience for its debut in the iconic RAA Travel’s Tasting Australia program. Flavour Centre Stage will match the finest South Australian produce, wine and performances to deliver an unforgettable night  which is sure to delight and entertain our dinner guests.”

Diners will delight in a unique South Australian menu and performances which include:

First course – Indigenous ingredients in collaboration with First Nations’ family-owned catering business  Block Ya Dot, and a performance by dance collective Tjarutja Dance Company, who explore storytelling  through dance, representing Adelaide Festival Centre’s year-round commitment to celebrating First  Nations.

Second course – Asian influence and a performance by Aria nominated Punjabi Australian singer and  dancer Parvyn from the much-loved The Bombay Royale who incorporates contemporary pop with classical  Indian raga melodies with rhythm soul and jazz, to celebrate OzAsia Festival, Australia’s leading  contemporary arts festival engaging with Asia.

Third course – Spanish influence with a performance of majestic Flamenco by Casa de Flamenco, with  guitarist Aloysius Leeson, dancer Kristy Manuel and guests presenting authentic flamenco celebrating  Adelaide Guitar Festival, an exciting annual program of events by world-class guitarists.

Fourth course – French influence with performance by award winning cabaret favourite and chanteuse  Louise Blackwell with her band the French Set, inspired by Adelaide Cabaret Festival, the largest cabaret  festival in the world.

Fifth course – a playful dessert with a performance by the always energetic and amazing performers from  Cirkidz marvel as they thrill in celebration of DreamBIG Children’s Festival, the longest running children’s festival in the world.
