A brand new aircraft crashes into the French Alps killing all 300 passengers plus crew members. Young black box analyst Mathieu (Pierre Niney) has an uncanny ear to pick up anomalies in the recordings, but he also has a reputation for ignoring orders and following his own instincts. His instinct turned sour previously when his theory about a Cessna crash turned out to be incorrect.
In this new incident he again hears things his boss doesn’t seem to and is taken off the investigation. When his boss fails to show up for work and can’t be contacted, Mathieu is brought back into the fold and soon discovers evidence of a terrorist attack. When he again starts to follow his own wild thoughts and loses the support of the top echelon of BEA Airlines as well as his wife, who is high up in airline safety and security.
She and Mathieu are constantly receiving offers to join their mutual friend’s firm, Pegase Security, which is developing new and more efficient communication and control systems.
There are several twists and turns in this thriller, but I won’t give any more away. It is an excellent and gripping movie though I did find it drag a little in parts (though only just!). It is definitely a film worth watching!
