The credit unions – including People’s Choice Credit Union, Beyond Bank, Credit Union SA and Police Credit Union – will extend their naming rights sponsorship of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant for the next three years (2016, 2017, 2018 events) it has been announced.
Minister for Tourism, Leon Bignell said Christmas had come early, with plans underway and on track for the 2016 Credit Union Christmas Pageant, in partnership with the credit unions as naming rights sponsor, as it has for the last 20 years.
“The Pageant has been a 365 day a year commitment to the community by the credit unions for 20 years. Their partnership with the State Government has ensured the delivery of this magical event to the people of South Australia,” said the Minister.
“The credit unions – People’s Choice Credit Union, Beyond Bank Australia, Credit Union SA and Police Credit Union – provide the kind of support that is critical to the success of the overall event.
“The partnership – which sees more than 500 credit union staff, family and friends involved – makes it one of the most enduring and integrated partnerships ever seen in South Australia.
“We look forward to continuing working with the credit unions to deliver this special event to the people of South Australia and Australia, through our live broadcast on the Nine Network.”
Chair of the Credit Union Pageant Company, Robert Keogh said that the credit unions believe strongly that the Christmas Pageant is a unique opportunity to give back to the community that supports them each and every day.
“The credit unions’ continuing commitment to the Pageant is a reflection of their longstanding and unwavering support of community initiatives,” said Robert Keogh.
“The credit unions have enjoyed bringing this event to the people of South Australia, and are looking forward to another three years of collaboration with Events South Australia sharing the powerful message about the value and importance of community.”
The South Australian Government, through the South Australian Tourism Commission and Events South Australia, owns and manages the Credit Union Christmas Pageant. The Government of South Australia has owned this event since 1995, the credit unions have been naming rights sponsors since 1996.
In 2015 over 4,000 South Australians helped to bring the parade to an audience of approximately 477,701 with 340,000 at the event and 137,701 watching the live broadcast making it the number one program in Adelaide.
The 2016 Credit Union Christmas Pageant will be held on Saturday 12 November starting at South Terrace with the start signaled by the blowing of the gold whistle at 9.30 am.
