Backstage Club with Reuben Kaye review

By Tony Polese · On June 26, 2017

Reuben Kaye, winner of the Adelaide Fringe Best Cabaret Performer, as well as featuring in his own solo show at the Festival he hosted several nights at the late night venue Backstage club.  It is a chance to see a taste of several Cabaret artists to whet your appetite for more. Reuben audaciously delivers up this smorgasbord of talent wrapped in cheeky but scathing humour.  Shooting straight from the hip or more like the lips, beware any audience member who falls into his false eye-lashed glare.  Reuben has soon whipped the audience into a frenzy and we were left crying out for more.
The performers vary each night but we were lucky to experience Co-Festival Director Ali McGregor belt out a tune with the amazing Le Gateau Chocolat, definitely someone to follow in future.  If you missed this year’s Adelaide Cabaret Festival don’t make the same for mistake again with the backstage Club a great way to sample the delights especially for newcomers.
