Leading Australian music label Island Records would like to congratulate Dean Lewis, Vera Blue, Thundamentals, The Preatures, The McClymonts and Polish Club on their ARIA Award Nominations announced today at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Further congratulations goes to Lost Highway Records artist Shane Nicholson nominated today for Best Country Album Award which he won in 2015 Dean Lewis has had a phenomenal 12 months since the release of his single ‘Waves’ which is now certified Double-Platinum in Australia, reached 53 million streams world-wide and has secured major syncs globally including Riverdale, Shadow Hunters, Home & Away and Suits (mid-season finale). Today the Sydney singer-songwriter can include ARIA nominations for Breakthrough Artist, Best Pop Release, Best Video and Apple Best Song of the Year to his list of achievements for single ‘Waves’. Dean has spent the last month in Europe performing in front of huge crowds at sought after festivals 7 Layers and Reeperbahn. He will head to the USA and Canada in December for more live shows before returning home for his National ‘Lose My Mind‘ tour which begins in November in Fremantle. This will be Dean Lewis’s first ARIA Awards and surely won’t be his last with his debut album slated for a release in 2018. First time nominee Vera Blue has had a killer of a year with sold out national tours, festival appearances and the release of her #6 ARIA Album debut Perennial. The album which has garnered hit songs ‘Private’ and ‘Mended’ is nominated for Best Pop Release. Next week Vera Blue jets off for a whirlwind trip to the UK playing Gold Dust in London followed by a week in France, Germany and Sweden to promote her debut album. The rising artist will then head to the US to support UK artist Jacob Banks on his North American tour. Last month Polish Club and The Preatures shared the stage for The Preatures National ‘Girlhood’ Tour and today they were both nominated for the Best Rock Album award. Sydney duo Polish Club, who came to the forefront of the local music scene less than 12 months ago with the release of single ‘Beat Up’ are nominated for their debut Top 15 ARIA Album Alright Already. The Preatures who perform in front of a SOLD OUT crowd at Moth Club in London this week, are nominated for their second album Girlhood which also debuted Top 15 on the ARIA Album chart. For their fourth studio album, Sydney group Thundamentals are nominated for the Best Urban Album Award for #2 ARIA Album Everyone We Know out through High Depth/Island Records. The group were nominated for Best Urban Album in 2014 for their third studio release ‘So We Can Remember’. The McClymonts who have now sold well over 175K albums to date are nominated for Best Country Album Award for their album Endless alongside Lost Highway Artist Shane Nicholson nominated for his album Love And Blood. The sister trio were previous winners of the ARIA Best Country Award in 2010 and 2012. Island Records would also like to congratulate all nominated artists and labels distributed through Universal Music Australia.
