Bring Me The Horizon Review
Supports: Hands Like Houses & While She Sleeps
Adelaide Entertainment Centre – Theatre
February 8, 2017
Interesting how Bring me the Horizon’s brolly-in-the-rain logo is far from opposite to this hot summer evening with the temperature reaching 42 degrees. Luckily, the concert was indoors and somewhat cooler.
Hands like Houses kicked things off and already a strong crowd was in the Entertainment Centre theatre and they didn’t disappoint. They played songs from their 2015 album, “Dissonants”. The band from Canberra who are led by singer, Trenton Woodley, whom had fantastic vocals. Regardless of him mentioning his voice may be scratchy from the busy week. For a band that has already done amazingly well so far, I expect bigger things ahead. Without a doubt I think their last 15 tickets to their stand alone gig at Adelaide Uni bar would have sold the following morning.
As Hands like Houses eased us into the evening, While She Sleeps from Sheffield took things up big time with their hard and brutal set. They demanded circle pits and even the lead vocalist jumped to crowd surf. They last toured Australia in 2013 with Soundwave and mentioned it had been too long. On this night, they played songs from their 2012 record “This Is the Six” to brand new material from their upcoming “You Are We” album. If you love true metal music, then this is the band for you.
After having to reschedule their Adelaide show from September 2016, as front man Oli Skyes had acute laryngitis diagnosis, it was time for the fans to see Bring Me The Horizon again live. The set in place is amazing promising a fantastic visual display ahead.
What an opening it is with confetti cannons detonating and “happy song” being the opener. Oli Skyes requests a circle pit and one of the strangest things I have ever seen being held aloft is a water cooler. Guess its hot and all. The way the band members blend into the visual displays is fantastic.
C02 cannons come out for the Avalanche song and their vocals are absolutely spot on this night. Oli Skyes makes another request to the large crowd being that they sit down. Then countdown to one and JUMP. Bringing some fun to the concert, the crowd are having a blast.
Back to the amazing visuals, we see things on the screen like gorgeous flowers blooming. During the Can you Feel My Heart song, lots of middle fingers are up in the air. Bring me the Horizon then leave the stage before the encore.
“True friends stab you in the front” is played and another request is made by Oli being for lighters and phones to be lit up le viagra sur ordonnance. “Oh No” and “Drown” finish out their set with a theatre full of confetti making for a happy and spectacular ending.
Bring Me The Horizon proved that they sure know how to deliver a live show and with the stunning visuals, canons thrown in, and their amazing vocals delivering all their big hits, this was one memorable performance.
