Andrew Strong Review at The Gov

By Tony Polese · On March 7, 2018

Andrew Strong could sing the alphabet and make it soulful, that rich raspy voice just oozes soul.
The star of the 90’s film “The Commitments” delighted a packed house at The Gov rocking out classic soul, funk and rhythm and blues.
Opening with Wilson Pickett’s “Midnight Hour” he had the crowd up on their feet and grooving from the start. More fan favourites with “Hard to handle”, “Mustang Sally” and for me the nights highlight “land of 1000 dances” had the crowd in raptures
Another highlight was Strong’s sister Maeve and her performance of “I can’t stand the rain” that showed her voice is just as powerful and soulful and her more famous brother.
If you are looking for an entertaining night of fantastic music that you can’t help but move to then Andrew Strong and his band deliver in spades.
Strong returns to The Gov on 22nd March.
