Where: The Gov
Duration: 80 minutes

I first saw these three Adelaide girls at The Highway about six years ago when known as Georgia Germein and she had her two younger sisters backing her. They went on to become The Germein Sisters and now, simply, Germein. They have just finished a UK tour with the biggest girl group Little Mix. Germein comprise Georgia (guitar, keyboard, lead vocals), Ella (bass, electric cello) and Clara (drums).
I was eager to see how they had progressed since my initial viewing, and I was not disappointed. They have turned into a very professional group and played several covers and a number of their own songs. Predictably it was a large and very young crowd (apart from us!). There was great rapport between the three sisters and they interacted with the audience extremely well.
Georgia delighted with her guitar work – mostly fairly simple but did impress with a couple of solo riffs – and keyboards, but mainly with her powerful vocals. We both thought that Clara was outstanding on drums and the harmonies between the three girls were superb. Ella, too, showed her versatility switching between bass guitar and cello.
Overall, we were both impressed with these three young ladies and sincerely hope that their tour with Little Mix will kick-start a very promising and well-deserved career in a tough industry. They only had the one show for The Fringe but, now that they are back home, keep an eye out for future gigs and go along and enjoy an evening of great pop-rock music.
My only complaint was that in the Fringe guide they were stated as playing at 8:30 for 120 minutes. However, it wasn’t until we arrived that we saw the notice that they had two support acts and Germein would not be starting until 9:30. We missed the first support, but the second (Rob Edwards) was really good – played acoustic guitar and has an amazing Ed Sheeran-like voice. That aside, when playing for The Fringe, then stick to the timetable and don’t bother with support acts. Germein finished close to 10:00, so if you had another late show to attend, then you would have had to leave well before the end of the show.
