Being a fan of Craft Beer and a regular patron of the Wheatsheaf Hotel I now regularly drink a range of I.P.A. beers from the local brewery Pirate Life based in Hindmarsh. Amid the construction and expansion of South Rd currently being undertaken you could be forgiven for not noticing the Brewery.
I have as well recently toured the brewery, which is well worth it, an education of the process of brewing from water profile to canning. As well as enjoying your favourite can of Pirate Life during the tour.
This brewery has come along way in just a short time and have a great range of beers that are available here in Adelaide, as well as exporting to New Zealand, UK , Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand. Someone alert The Airport Economist! With greater opportunities arising once the expansion of the brewery gets underway down in Port Adelaide, scheduled to be around 6 months time.
This Sunday March 4th they are celebrating their 3rd Birthday at The Gilbert Street Hotel. This will coincide with the 2nd release of their Milkshake IPA. Sounds very tempting, I wonder if they have lined up the Village People to do the shake! Last year at the same event, I arrived at around 3pm and the Mosaic IPA which Pirate Life launched was all gone by the time I got served at the bar. The celebrations commence at midday and is free, with Bands, DJs, other local brews and local produce if you want a change of pace from the Adelaide Festival.
