PARADISE HOTEL VIP Launch
Words by Geoff Jenke
The Paradise Hotel at 700 Lower North-East Road, Paradise has been renovated and the “new” hotel has a more open feel about it. The room we were in had large open windows all along one side, letting in the cool evening breeze. This room is also used for live acoustic sessions held Thursday to Sunday each week. Tonight, we were entertained by a gentleman on guitar playing a mixture of popular (and a few I didn’t know) songs. The room is ideally set up for such live performances.
The Paradise has retained its family friendly vibe of the past by putting in two theatre rooms, showing all of the classic kid’s movies, so the adults can eat in peace. The Kids Menu has a good variety of food that not only includes the classics, Chicken Nuggets and Fish and Chips, but also healthier options like grilled flathead and lean beef burger amongst the many choices. All Kids menu items also include free dessert.
For the grownups, the menu includes the Paradise Hotel signature dish Rotissere Chicken, a half roast split chicken that has been corn and grain fed in the Adelaide Hills and slow cooked. Choice of Chimi churri (herb & Garlic) or Peri Peri (spicy/medium) basting sauces are available. Goes well with a Cool Harvest Pinot Grigio. Get in quick for this one as the menu states “until sold out”.
A nice range of mains available if the Chicken Rotissere is not your choice. Slow cooked Scotch Fillet, seafood platters, a range of salads and of course what menu would not be complete without schnitzels, chicken or porterhouse beef. We got to sample the SA Coconut Prawn Salad which, with a hot and sour dressing, was simply delightful. Likewise, the Panko Calamari.
For something different, try the Handmade Mushroom Arancini Balls from the Starters list. With a rich mushroom filling and a delightful tomato sugo sauce, they were delicious.
Being Gluten Free myself (not by choice), I was impressed with the large range of gluten free options on the menu. Even the Cape Byron Beef Cheese Burger has a GF option. Plenty for us affected by gluten to choose from. Well done.
With most menu choices under or around the $20 price, the Paradise Hotel is a good option to take the family to. The children will love the theatre rooms.
If your stuck for lunch on Christmas Day, they are taking bookings now.
Thank you Girl About Town for the invitation and thank you Paradise Hotel for the hospitality.
