Husband and wife co-owners, Federico and Laurie Godi, were inspired by Federico’s Italian background. The restaurant aspires to be a venue where diners can enjoy themselves by indulging in great food and wine. Federico Godi is also the Head Chef and possesses a wealth of expertise, courtesy of his love for authentic Italian food.
Federico Godi, says, “In English, my surname ’Godi’ translates to ‘enjoy’ and ‘la vita’ means ‘life’, resulting in Godi La Vita – enjoy life… And that is exactly what our restaurant intends to offer diners…”
“I was born in Florence and grew up in an Italian villa where I was constantly surrounded by some of Italy’s finest chefs… From a very young age, I’ve had the opportunity to learn the tricks of the trade to perfect recipes that result in irresistible, mouth-watering dishes,” says Federico.
Godi La Vita’s menu is filled with traditional, flavoursome dishes that are bound to get your tastebuds excited.
“Once you have one mouthful of our homemade gnocchi, you won’t be able to stop yourself… The ‘Pork Ribs Rosticciana,’ – twice cooked with braised cannellini beans and grilled endivie – is simply delicious and expected to be a crowd favourite.
“We also offer a delicious assortment of salads, antipastos and panini’s that you can enjoy while dining in, or take away on the go,” says Federico.
Courtesy of her interior design background, Laurie Godi was able to create a venue that’s unique and boasts a welcoming ambiance.
“Our restaurant aims to make people feel as though they are really in Italy, from the flavours of the food, to the layout and décor… My wife did an amazing job to successfully portray everything we envisioned,” says Federico.
Godi La Vita is the first restaurant in Australia to work with Wine Resources Australia to create their very own range of commissioned wines. Blended with ingredients from Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale in South Australia, the Godi La Vita wines are expected to be a massive hit amongst diners.
Owner and Wine Maker at Wine Resources Australia, Nick Girolamo, says “The 2013 Godi La Vita Shiraz is a bright full bodied South Australian shiraz with lifted aromas of ripe dark berries and warm, rich flavours of chocolate, spice and soft oak tannins…
“It has been such a great opportunity to align ourselves with a local establishment like Godi La Vita as they’re the perfect fit to launch as our flagship store,” says Nick.
Alongside the Godi La Vita Shiraz, Wine Resources Australia have also created a Moscato, Chardonnay, Chardonnay Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, which are all available to experience in the restaurant.
Situated in Hyde Park, Godi La Vita is officially launching 14th April. Open Tuesday to Sunday for breakfast until late, Godi La Vita is the perfect destination to experience an authentic taste of Italy.
