Bai Long Store Winter Menu Review

By Christie Thompson · On June 4, 2018

If you haven’t heard already, Bai Long Store is one of Adelaide’s newest Asian fusion hotspots, and with one visit to the fabulous restaurant it’s easy to see why. From the brilliant minds behind Gin Long Canteen, it comes as no surprise that the not even six-month-old restaurant is already booked out each night.

From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, Bai Long will have you saying, “Wow, they really thought of everything”. From the menus, plates and personalised sparkling water bottles, to the tables, walls and ceiling – everything in the restaurant is themed with striking attention to detail.

The restaurant’s design aesthetic stems from its name, Bai Long, which stands for ‘white dragon’. In fact, the entire restaurant is supposed to be a white dragon. The back wall is covered in wooden tiles, which represent dragon scales; the white walls feature subtle flame patterns, representing the body, while a large circular fitting in the ceiling represents the belly of the beast. More than that, the restaurant features accents of yin and yang all throughout, a message of balance. Many of the smaller details are coloured black and white, including the elegant menus, with meat dishes on the white side and vegetarian dishes on the black side.

Finally, the dishes are really something worth returning for. With something on the menu for everyone, it’s the perfect place to take a group for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We were lucky enough to try the new dinner menu and were not disappointed. The lamb cutlets, peking duck bao, tofu bao and king prawns left our mouths watering and our bellies full. The cocktails were a fresh take on classics including a mango margharita, pear mohito and a negroni with a twist, all to be released on a new cocktail menu to accompany the new dinner options.

Bai Long’s head chef is skilled in various cuisines including Korean, Japanese, French, Chinese and more. With this amount of skill, Bai Long’s owner Jay says, “we didn’t want to call it just Korean or just Japanese because we didn’t want to restrict the menu, we created a fusion because we didn’t want to rule anything out”.
The best part about it?

Aside from the professional service, delicious menus, and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere, another fantastic feature of Bai Long Store is that its prices are affordable. For a great night out that wont break the bank, we definitely recommend Bai Long Store for your next dining experience.
