Untapped
The Vagabond, Garden of Unearthly Delights
February 26 2016
If you like to ‘Move It Move It’ (or rather, watch other very talented people ‘Move It Move It’), then you will thoroughly enjoy this past-paced, rhythmic dance extravaganza.
Untapped mixes urban, street style funk, African tribal beats and contemporary dance into an hour of wild tap, flanked with Aussie humour and the extraordinary talents of Beatbox Genesis.
The production is slick, entertaining and highly professional. Each of the performers (including the band) clearly love what they do; a passion that shows on their faces and through their rhythmic feet.
There is a level of skill and showmanship displayed by all five dancers that makes even the most complicated and fast-paced steps look like a breeze. And through unique twists and innovative choreography, the cast prove that you aren’t limited to your feet when it comes to tap, but that you can in fact use any part of your body (including your voice) to create a moving beat. This is tapdancing with your whole body and, boy, is it amazing what noise one body can make!
The beatboxing interludes are in a league of their own. In a series of impressive performances, Genesis entertains and interacts with the family-friendly audience leaving them in complete awe of the capabilities of the human voice. His appearances are a real highlight of the show.
When you go, try to get a position towards the front or on the raised seating. You want to be able to see the dancer’s feet – as this is where much of the magic happens!
This very loud yet fun Fringe spectacle is showing in the Garden of Unearlthy Delights at 7pm until March 13. Book your tickets at www.adelaidefringe.com.au/fringetix.
A family-friendly show with versatile, serious talent!
