Crime Wave – Saturday 11th May
Maribel Verdu plays Leyre a woman who finds herself in a crazy situation where her son Asier kills her ex-husband so she then tries in many unconventional and catastrophic ways to make sure the crime is covered up.
The movie starts by Leyre going to confession where the priest in the confessional box is more interested in sorting out his java script on his phone than hearing the wild antics of a murder. The priest doesn’t have time to hear the long and drawn out story but Leyre persists and eventually gets to tell it all.
With a quirky and colourful cast of characters such as an ex-wife, a meddling lawyer, a Taxi Driver aspiring to be an actor, two serious policemen, an overbearing Mother and her carer as well as the lovestruck best friend of Asier who is willing to do whatever to seduce Leyre they all contribute to plenty of opportunities for things to go wrong with unexpected results.
Things go from worse to crazy in this hilarious fast-paced comedy full of twists and turns but this cast of misfits all seem to work into the story well. Crime Wave is certainly a rough wave of fun and laughter.
