New thriller Pine Gap launches in October

By Tony Polese · On September 12, 2018

The ABC is excited to announce that the gripping, six-part ABC / Netflix drama Pine Gap will premiere on Sunday 14th October at 8.30pm with a double episode on ABC TV and with all episodes available to binge immediately after on ABC iview.

The Screentime production is set in the intensely secretive world of intelligence, deep within the walls of the joint defence facility in central Australia. Pine Gap explores the famously strong alliance between Australia and the United States.

But the relationship between the Australian and American intelligence analysts working at Pine Gap isn’t always rosy.  Simmering beneath the surface are flashpoints of personality, culture and politics that questions what do you do for your country, what do you do for those you love and what do you do for yourself?

With a new global player encroaching, placing decades of stability under threat, matters of trust, betrayal, love and loyalty will all come into question, and a shocking secret revealed will change everything, pushing the world to the brink of war.

Bringing this top-secret world to life is an outstanding line up of talent including; Parker Sawyers, Jacqueline McKenzie, Tess Haubrich, Stephen Curry, Steve Toussaint, Mark Leonard Winter and Sachin Joab.  They are joined by Kelton Pell, Lewis Fitz-Gerald, Madeleine Madden, Alice Keohavong, Edwina Wren, Jason Chong and Simone Kessell.

With a storyline inspired by today’s headlines, Pine Gap is a thriller, not to be missed.

Production Credits: A Screentime (A Banijay Company) Production, financed by Netflix and ABC, in association with the South Australian Film Corporation with additional funding support from Screen Territory.  Written by Greg Haddrick and Felicity Packard.  Directed by Mat King. Produced by Lisa Scott and Felicity Packard.  Executive Producers Greg Haddrick, Rory Callaghan,  Bob Campbell and Kerrie Mainwaring.  ABC Executive Producers Sally Riley and Brett Sleigh.
