As a huge fan of Denzel Washington, I was excited on this Wednesday evening to be seeing him again on the big screen in Equaliser 2. In this film, he plays Mr McCall who likes to make bad things right as he did in the original equaliser film.
And within the movie commencing and a few crunches of popcorn, the action was already underway on a train committing through Turkey. Here we learn the calm and methodical manner that Mr McCall makes the bad guys pay for their errors.
Upon another action scene where we learn to always give your ride sharing driver five stars, the film goes into a much slower pace where we can all catch our breath, and see mentoring occur between Mr McCall and a young and up and rising artist. All while Mr McCall goes about his day job of driving people around the city, and reading.
The film then steps up a gear after what initially looks like a random incident in Brussels, and its full throttle from here. Expect twists, tons of brutality (gruesome at times), and barracking for the good guys. But who are the good guys?
The film finishes with a thrilling finale amongst a gigantic hurricane (yes, its huge) and a flip back to the original roots of Equaliser 1.
In summary, the Equaliser 2 illustrates that we face the consequences for actions we take in our lives.
Its a stormy 8 out of 10.
