Movie Review: Rambo Last Blood

By Tony Polese · On October 7, 2019

When the world first caught glimpse of iconic Green Beret John Rambo close to 40yrs ago he was fresh out of Vietnam trying to make sense of a war he never understood, but doing the only thing he ever wanted to do in life be a soldier. Forty years later John Rambo still lives with those horrors in his mind, like he once said “…nothing is over….you just can’t turn it off”. In Rambo Last Blood, John Rambo is making the most of what he has in this world his Arizona ranch bestowed to him by his departed father and the friendship of his house keeper and her daughter. When young Gabrielle travels to Mexico (against Rambo’s wishes) to get in touch with her father, she is introduced to the realities of the 21st century world, it’s an evil place with evil people seeking to exploit anything and anyone for money. When a Mexican Cartel takes the only thing away from a one man killing machine…you can be assured that Rambo will bring death to this evil group head on. With extremely graphic violence and hardened action sequences, Rambo doesn’t shine far from its R18 rating. With all action now predominantly being all CGI, unrealistic and over the top silly…aka Fast n Furious series, it’s good to see that it takes a Hollywood action Icon in Sylvester Stallone to show the young guys how it meant to be done!

While John Rambo left war a long time ago….the stringent smell of death never left him or for those who will betray his ways. Was a fifth film needed to send out this iconic saga no, but was it a fitting ending to Sly’s John Rambo character yes…may he ride off into the sunset a true American war legend!

Rambo Last Blood! ***; Action that shocks and confronts! The world can be evil and Rambo can bring death to those who cross his path!

Now showing nationally. Catch it on the big screen, how action is meant to be seen.
