Movie Review: Boss Level

By Tony Polese · On February 15, 2021

In Cinemas from 25th February
Action, Mystery, Sci-Fi

(Reviewed by John Glennie)

This is Groundhog Day on a massive overdose of steroids!! Roy (Frank Grillo) is a retired special forces operative who wakes up every day to a machete-wielding assassin and the day doesn’t get any better. After dodging bullets, jumping out of his 4th floor window, getting blown up, having his head cut off in this never-ending time loop, he still doesn’t know why he is the target of these assassins.

He discovers that his estranged wife, Jemma (Naomi Watts) who works for a mean and nasty Colonel Clive Ventor (Mel Gibson), has died only a day after he received a panicked phone call from her. Over numerous days – yes, he dies on each one of them – he eventually puts the clues together and works out why he is targeted and who he needs to take out to end this vicious cycle.

There is non-stop action and is quite entertaining – and funny in a macabre way – and worth seeing if you are into action movies. Oh, and there is an interesting and unexpected ending 😜 !
