Dance Academy takes a leap into the raw, real emotions of what is it like to be a professional dancer. It strips away the myth and fantasy and yet you are still left with the authentic beauty of dance and movement. This Australian movie developed from the beloved series on Australian television where teens across the country remained glued to their screens to watch the growth and journey of these characters. The movie opens with the characters grown and facing the reality of life after the umbrella of support has been removed and the harshness of life comes into play. The production crosses between fast pace interplayed with the slow reality of rejection and the constant, repetitive need to keep trying to succeed. It showcases both Sydney and New York City. The characters represented the demands of this modern-day era. Dance Academy can be enjoyed by dancers and those that have never entered the world of dancing. This film demonstrates that the best laid plans can go astray and yet we still carry on.
Catch this movie and you too will feel inspired.
