Bey Dance Flashmob – Fringe

By Madeleine Broadbridge · On February 27, 2016

Bey Dance Flashmob – Fringe Event
The Octagon, Gluttony
February 27th, 2016

All rise. Queen B is back in town and she’s brought her sassiest wanna-Beys along to teach you how to strut, shimmy and booty-shake til you can’t strut, shimmy or booty-shake no more!

In 90 minutes you’ll be transformed from a closet bedroom mirror dancer to a full D-Floor diva with a power stance to match the goddess Beyoncé herself.

But fear not my two left-footed friends, you don’t have to have an ounce of rhythm to enjoy Bey Dance; this is a class that serves to encourage confidence and laughter, not perfection.

On the Saturday afternoon I attended, the crowd was female dominant and of varying ages, but we were all there to have a good time and with the energy, charisma and smile of our choreographer leading us through our dance, it was hard not to let our inner divas fly free. The central raised platform in The Octagon tent did unfortunately obstruct a few of our sassy struts, nevertheless we made up for it with some seriously bootylicious twerking, hip rolls and chest popping.

Designed to get you moving, this class is a work-out and a half so make sure you wear sensible shoes and pack a bottle of cold water. Also keep in mind that the tent gets quite warm (being summer and all) so dress accordingly.

The ‘Flashmob’ portion of the event comes at the very end once you have learnt all the moves necessary to temporarily transform you into a Queen B stunt-double for the afternoon. It’s completely optional and there is absolutely no judging for those who wish to end their Bey Dance experience there or simply watch the others do their thing for an audience of unsuspecting Fringe-goers out in the bright sunshine of Gluttony. However, part of the fun is letting loose in front of a bunch of strangers and showing off your newly acquired diva prowess.

This is one Fringe experience that will certainly have you feeling fierce, flawless and fabulous. And just a little bit sweaty….

To get your sexy sweat going, head to www.adelaidefringe.com.au/fringetix to book your tickets. Be quick – Flawless with Bey Dance Flashmob ends on March 6.
