Jesus, Jane, Mother and Me is a one man show by 19 year old Jack Stokes who plays Daniel Valentine, a flamboyant, excitable but strange boy who has lived through many of the struggles of his single mother.
The monologues each portray the development of who Daniel is with such detail and such fiery passion, you feel like you are living in the shoes of him.
Due to his lower class upbringing in Yorkshire and the strained relationship with his mother, this show focuses on how and why he had an obsession with star Jane McDonald. As the play unfolds, you notice its more less about Jane herself and more about the need for acceptance.
Stokes commands the stage, he brings you into the life of Daniel. This show will become one of the shows of the Fringe and add to the award it received in Edinburgh.
Jesus, Jane, Mother and Me is playing at Holden street theatres until the 19th of march.
