The Hungry Jack’s National Basketball League (NBL) and sports performance brand First Ever have unveiled the 2019-20 NBL Jersey collection.
Today’s launch features the first look of the foundation ash grey and green jersey to be worn by the NBL’s newest team South East Melbourne Phoenix in its debut season.
The 2019-20 NBL Season will tip off on October 3 when Phoenix play Melbourne United in the first Throwdown at Melbourne Arena.
The jerseys also feature those to be worn by NBL Next Stars LaMelo Ball (Illawarra Hawks) and RJ Hampton (SKY Sport New Zealand Breakers) ahead of their highly anticipated debut seasons in the NBL.
First Ever CEO and NBL Co-Owner Justin Kestelman said: “As the stars of the NBL, the players are the focus of the 2019-20 jersey collection.
“We hope fans will be excited by the new designs which take their inspiration from NBA jerseys and will be available to everyone to wear as they follow their teams during what is set to be the biggest NBL season ever.
“Collaboration with people and brands is a pivotal part of our industry and we’re proud to have taken a big step forward in this space. You’ll see this through the creativity of the designers and the diverse background of people who support Australian basketball.
“Keep an eye out for a collaboration between the NBL and Warner Brothers later this year.”
The jerseys were launched in a diverse campaign featuring Australian Indigenous Basketball All-Stars Jaden Weldon and William Hickey alongside Andrew Gaze’s son Mason Gaze, wheelchair athlete Oli Stafford, upcoming hip hop and RnB artist JayCee, one of Melbourne’s most iconic Barber’s Jordan Tabakman and more.
First Ever collaborated with three well known basketball apparel designers to give the team jerseys a new elevated look – Tyson Beck (South East Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth), Chad Mann (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane) and Mel Charman (Cairns, New Zealand, Illawarra).
All of the new and improved NBL jerseys include sports performance fabrications to absorb moisture, are made of a lighter weight material, and feature overlapping side seams for ease of movement and a premium woven First Ever locker patch.
“All these new features will give fans more reason to wear their jerseys on and off the court,” Kestelman said.
Next month the NBL Store will also launch its personalised jersey service, allowing fans to add their names and numbers to their favourite team jersey in home and away designs.
