Coming Soon: The HU

By Tony Polese · On July 14, 2022

Renowned Mongolian rock band came to Adelaide and played The Gov about a week before the borders closed due to COVID! I saw them then and they were brilliant. Now they return to Adelaide with their “Black Thunder” tour on 6th August, to coincide with the opening of the Hindley Street Music Hall. This will give fans the chance to hear the new music from The HU’s highly anticipated album, due out later this year.

The HU play a mix of folk rock and heavy metal on traditional Mongolian instruments, including the Morin khuur, the Tovshuur, combined with Mongolian throat singing. They call their style “hunnu rock”, inspired by the Hunnu who were an ancient Mongolian / Turkic empire known as Xiongnu. As you can see in the subtitled video clip below, their lyrics are definitely not love songs! Their lyrics include old Mongolian was cries and poetry.

If you love hard rock and something pretty unique, then don’t miss The HU!

The HU live concert, 6 August 2022
