Fringe Review: RAILED

By Tony Polese · On February 22, 2020

What: RAILED
Where: The Octagon at Gluttony – Rymill Park
Duration: 60 minutes
When: now through to March 15
Genre: Circus and Physical Theatre / Comedy

Last Thursday night we attended the racy, beefy and naughty western-themed circus Railed. Set up in the Octagon Tent at Gluttony, Railed transports you to a mythical, western fantasy where cheeky, bare-chested men perform daring physical theatre and outrageously silly comedic skits to a highly energetic crowd.

Funny comedic skits were found throughout the entire performance, occasionally corny but silly and fun nonetheless. Ridiculously funny entertainer Adam McMahon carried the night’s comedic moments with whacky costuming and skits. McMahon will have you questioning what the heck is going on while at the same time almost in tears at how oddly comic his goofiness is.

Talented and humble aerialist and entertainer Harley Timmermans performs fantastic physical sequences throughout the show, spinning and revolving seamlessly inside a large human-sized hoop and a bizarre yet wonderful aerial performance in a unicorn head and outfit.

Another physical theatre superstar Cal Harris daringly performs wild ladder and chair-stacking stunts that will have you exactly where you need to be during a circus…on the edge of your seat.

And not to go without a mention is their own sexy rendition of the classic strip-tease to the long-established strip song Pony by Ginuwine. Performed on chairs, this raunchy and amusing scene had audience members fanning themselves with their hands from the heat… or maybe that was just me.

This show is the absolute perfect night out with the girls. Full of naughty, hens-night styled comedy and dance numbers paired together with incredible physical theatre stunts. Only an hour long, one could say this show goes by a little too quickly. However, these boys will truly steal your heart with a humble wink and smirk. They are ridiculous in their story-telling, ridiculous in their talent and ridiculous in their glorious muscular builds. On until the end of the Fringe season, gather the girls together and secure your tickets now to experience this sexy western, comedic fantasy.
