13 January 2017: Gospo Collective will push new vocal boundaries at the 2017 Adelaide Fringe Festival with the national premiere of Charmaine Jones-Devasagayam’s Gospolation.
As a renowned educator and performer, Gospo Collective Music Director Charmaine is known for merging secular and sacred music to rock and connect audiences from all walks of life. Gospolation will delight with new tunes, moves and grooves!
Expect Aretha Franklin, Bee Gees, Earth Wind and Fire, Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton, Hezekiah Walker, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé …all sung by a dynamic backing choir that give these well loved tunes a harmony that simply must be experienced.
After the sell-out season of ‘Gospolicious’ at Adelaide Fringe Festival 2014, Charmaine said that audiences could expect bigger and better early next year.
“We have pulled in some of the best voices from all over South Australia, including the Jones Commentary and this year we have singers joining us from Monash University, Melbourne too! I’ve remixed some favourite music in my signature style – you will have no choice but to get out of the crib and into the club with the harmonic flava’s of biggest Gospo Collective Choral extravaganza yet!”- she said.
The season of Gospolation will also be supported by The Jones Juniors – Gospo Enterprises children’s program. The program works with 4-12 years old to engage and educate children about the power of vocal production in a way that is fun and an experience not to be missed. You can sign up now to be part of The Jones Juniors and therefore perform in Gospolation. Workshops are held weekly on Monday afternoons.
