Adelaide Fringe Review: Extinguished Things

Adelaide Fringe Review: Extinguished Things

Review – Geoff Jenke

Molly Taylor returns to Adelaide with a new play called Extinguished Things, after her hit season with Love Letters to the Public Transport System at the 2018 Fringe.

Her neighbours, six doors down, leave their flat one morning but don’t return. Al and Evie had been married for 40 years and were childless. “I have their spare keys. I cannot resist”. So starts the play.

Molly can certainly tell a story. She gives a compelling impression that this scenario really happened to her. As she enters the flat, memories come flooding back to her about the couple who had lived there. The voices of the past echoed in belongings and items left behind. The audience are dragged into the lives of Al and Evie with Molly. These are life stories, some sad, some funny and many touching.

As we watch Molly, behind out own closed doors, we are taken on a life long journey behind the closed door of Al and Evie’s flat.

Simply wonderful.
