Mabel McVey is the daughter of Neneh Cherry and Camern McVey so R’n’B is fully entrenched in her sound. Her father produced Massive Attack and also worked with All Saints and Sugababes.
Mabel hid the fact she was writing music from her parents until she was 16 and released her debut single Know Me Better before she was 20. The song has been streamed over 7 million times.
Now she has the Bedroom E.P out with four songs that show she is a songwriter who is set for a fast ride to the top. Opener Bedroom is an honest anthem of feminine independence. It is a song about facing up to a toxic relationship and tired of trying to fix it.
Finders Keepers is up next and such is the beauty of the song, it has already been steamed over 3 million times.
Ride or Die and Talk About Forever round out the E.P and confirm Mabel is one of modern Pop’s brightest young things.
