UniSA-Australia Team Final Riders Named

By Tony Polese · On January 11, 2017

UniSA-Australia has entered the Santos Tour Down Under each year since 2001 as a wild card competitor, with the team allowing emerging riders to experience a UCI WorldTour event.

The 2017 UniSA-Australia lineup features Cameron Meyer, an accomplished rider whose achievements include world championship titles in the points race (2009 and 2010), team pursuit (2010) and the Madison (2010 and 2011), along with three gold medals on the track at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Santos Tour Down Under race director Mike Turtur said Meyer would be out to impress.
“He’s obviously a former winner of the race and he’s had a distinguished career on the road and track,” Turtur said. “He’s a class all-rounder, but he can mix it on the climbs in our race and the small group sprint finishes will be ideal for him. “This is a great opportunity (for Meyer) to get a good result here, and he has a young, strong team around him.”

UniSA-Australia’s team for the 2017 Santos Tour Down Under also includes Rio Olympic silver medallist Callum Scotson, who took out the under-23 time trial at last week’s 2017 MARS Cycling Australia National Cycling Championships in Buninyong, joining Sam Jenner who won the under-23 road race.
The UniSA-Australia team will be led be Team Manager, Brad McGee and includes riders Cameron Meyer, Callum Scotson, Lucas Hamilton, Michael Storer, Jai Hindley, Nathan Earle and Samuel Jenner.
