What was it like performing in China?

Performing in China was an amazing experience, but it was definitely a culture shock. We had to change our song list and we also learnt some words in Chinese (mandarin) to sort of break that culture barrier down which really helped. They truly are an amazing people and very work orientated. It was great that we were there just to entertain them and put a smile on their face.

Can fans expect any special surprises that you can share in your set for upcoming tour?

Absolutely. We got some new songs to introduce to people as well as older songs with a sort of new flair put into them. We also have some new toys and are going back to playing as a 3 piece.

I don’t want to give it away too much so I guess you will have to and come and check us out if you really want to see what we have in store.

What have you got planned for 2017?

Traveling (Canada, Philippines and even more of Australia) and just really getting back into the flow as a band. 2016 was a busy year for us like Zech had a beautiful little baby boy named Genesis (means new Beginnings) as well many other things. but 2017 is looking to be another great but busy year for Woodlock and we welcome the challenge.

Are you currently making any new music?

Yes, we certainly are. We are actually trying a new challenge of writing a new song every week from Jan through till Feb just to try something new which has been hard but definitely worth it.

Where do you get the ideas to write the music you write?

We write most of our songs about personal experiences that we are facing at the time of writing the song. Whether its subjects like depression, love, anger,  parenting or just frustration they all have one thing in common. They are feelings and subjects that we are facing personally or as a band.

What was the most funny thing to happen while you were onstage?

There are many, but one that comes to mind  is When zech got pressured to take his shirt of by the crowd, and when he finally did we went into one of our more slower more meaningful songs, he was quite embarrassed trying to be emotional while being shirtless onstage. It was very funny.

What are some of your passions outside of music?

Eze has just bought a boat so we are all trying to take up wake boarding and it is so much fun so far. hopefully by the end of summer we will all be pros. Because we are all only just starting we aren’t very good and are falling off a lot.

What advice would you give to aspiring bands?

Have a good time. Whether you are in your garage or on a stage. If you’re not having a good time why bother? When we started we weren’t trying to be anything special we just all enjoyed playing music together. Things evolved from that point but we began in joy for what we do.

Your favourite international artist that you have toured with?

We never have toured with an international act before! This year we will be touring with a Canadian band called The Franklin Electric which we are very excited about. The closest we’ve been to touring with an international band is opening for Elle King during her Bluesfest Side Shows. They were very fun and rowdy shows

What was it like performing at NYE on the Hill and Falls festival?

New Year’s Eve was probably our favourite show to date. by the end of our set the whole hill was dancing and the good vibes were strong. Falls was amazing too, bloody hot though we had a crowd that were loving it but staying close to the mid left of the stage for the water hose. So it looked really funny from our angle having a decent crowd but all packed like canned sardines side stage.
