Movie Review: Charlie’s Angels

By Tony Polese · On November 15, 2019
Charlie’s Angels – Palace Nova Prospect, Wednesday 13th November

(Reviewed by John Glennie)

Yes, another Charlie’s Angels! The movie opens with a James Bond scenario – an Angel seductively trying to elicit information from a high-flyer crook with all the usual kicking, shooting, etc. We then see John Bosley (Patrick Stewart) at his surprise retirement function, with new Bosley (Elizabeth Banks) taking over his role after 40 years in the business.

Two new Angels, Sabina (Kristen Stewart – The Twilight Saga) and Jane (Ella Balinska – I think I’m in love!!), join Edgar Bosley to meet an informant on a potential case. This meeting soon takes a turn for the worse with lots of the customary fighting, shooting and spectacular car chase. The informant, Elena (Naomi Scott – Aladdin) is taken under their wing and becomes a pseudo-3rd Angel.

The rest of the movie is fast paced and crammed full of the usual scenes – super-human efforts in amazing situations, car chases, violent kicking and punching where – of course – the Angels come out of it without a mark on them. It is all action with a few twists and turns with a few laughs thrown in. If you like this sort of movie, which I do, then by all means race into the cinema to see it on the big screen. If you are impartial, then wait until it comes out on Netflix and save a few $.
